What we collect, and what we don't

Last updated: August 5, 2026

The short version: we never see your card number, we do not sell your information to anyone, and the main things we collect are the details needed to ship you a hat plus some standard website analytics.

This policy covers wittylids.us. It explains what information we collect, why, who else sees it, and what you can do about it.

1. What We Collect

Information you give us

When you email us, we get your email address and whatever you write. When you place an order, PayPal passes us the details needed to fulfill it: your name, shipping address, email address, the items you bought, and the amount you paid.

We never receive your card number, CVV, or PayPal password. Payment details are entered on PayPal's side of the checkout, not ours. We could not store your card details if we wanted to.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we use analytics and advertising tools that collect technical information as you browse: your IP address, browser and device type, which pages you view, what you click, how you got here, and rough location (city or region level, from your IP). Specifically we use:

  • Google Analytics 4 — to see which hats and pages people actually look at.
  • The Meta pixel — to measure whether our Facebook and Instagram ads are working, and to show ads to people who have visited the site.

Information stored on your own device

Your cart lives in your browser's local storage, not on our server — that is how it survives when you close the tab. We also store a short-lived record of a completed purchase in your browser so we do not double-count the same order in our analytics. Clearing your browser data clears all of it, and empties your cart.

2. Why We Use It

  • To take your order, ship it, and email you about it.
  • To answer your questions and honor the 30-day guarantee.
  • To understand which hats and pages people like, so we make better ones.
  • To run and measure our ads.
  • To spot fraudulent orders and keep the site working.

3. Who Else Sees It

We share information only with the services needed to actually run the shop:

  • PayPal — processes your payment and handles your payment details directly.
  • Shipping carriers — get your name and address so the hat arrives.
  • Google (Analytics) and Meta (the pixel) — receive the browsing data described above.

Each of these has its own privacy policy governing what they do with it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade your email address. The only other times we would hand anything over are if the law required it, or if the business were ever sold or transferred — and in that case this policy would follow your data.

4. Cookies and Tracking

Google Analytics and the Meta pixel set cookies and similar identifiers in your browser. We do not use them to learn your name; they tell us things like "someone looked at four hats and did not buy one."

If you would rather not be part of that:

  • Install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Adjust your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.
  • Block cookies or use a tracker-blocking extension in your browser. The shop still works — your cart uses local storage, not cookies.
  • Clear your browser data to wipe everything we have stored on your device.

5. Marketing Email

We do not currently run a newsletter or a mailing list, and there is no email signup on this site. If you get an email from us, it is about an order you placed or a reply to something you wrote to us. If that ever changes, it will be opt-in and this page will say so.

6. How Long We Keep It

Order records are kept as long as we need them for accounting, tax, and honoring the guarantee. Emails stay in the inbox unless you ask us to delete them. Analytics data ages out on Google's and Meta's own retention schedules.

7. Your Choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will handle it ourselves — there is no ticket queue, it is one person reading it.

Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights along these lines (for example under California or EU/UK law), including the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell your information, and if you want us to stop sharing your browsing data with our advertising tools, say so in an email and we will suppress it for you. We will not treat you differently for asking.

8. Children

This site is meant for adults, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS and payments run through PayPal, so the most sensitive data never sits with us at all. That said, no website can promise perfect security, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we start using a new tool or collecting something new, we will update this page and change the date at the top.

11. Talk to Us

Any privacy question, request, or concern goes to [email protected]. A real person reads it. See also our Terms of Service.
